The Carter Center is set to host a star-studded concert at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, Georgia, for former president Jimmy Carter’s 100th birthday. The special tribute event, Jimmy Carter 100: A Celebration in Song, is slated for September 17, and its $100 tickets will be made available in days.
Although Jimmy does not turn 100 until the first day in October, his grandson Jason Carter, who is the Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Carter Center, thinks a night of music is the best way to make the political icon happy prior to D-day.
Who to expect at Jimmy’s 100th birthday fest
The all-star lineup includes performances from the likes of Chuck Leavell, Drive-By Truckers, Eric Church, D-Nice, Maren Morris, The War And Treaty, The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chamber Chorus and GROUPLOVE. Celebrities like Sean Penn, and Dale Murphy will also be in attendance, plus more yet-to-be-named guests.
The concert is likely to be Jimmy’s next public appearance since the funeral of his late wife and first lady Rosalynn Carter, who died last November after some time in hospice. He has since spent most of his time watching TV, receiving family over at this home in Plains, Georgia, and listening to music.
